Introducing Our New Group Support Volunteer

We have recently recruited Jodie Cook to a new role as Group Support Volunteer for South Derbyshire CVS. She will be giving all the groups that have registered with us a call over the next couple of weeks to have a chat about the work they are doing and how we can better support them. Please see the below note from Jodie. If you would like to contact her directly, you can do so by emailing GroupSupport@sdcvs.org.uk.

Hi

I am Jodie and I usually work as the National Volunteer Manager for P3 – my day job is to work alongside P3 staff to recruit and support volunteers across the country. I am also responsible for sourcing training opportunities for staff and volunteers for the charity.

I have a background in Community Development and have worked within a CVS for three years before I joined P3. In that role I supported community groups with all aspects of their development and facilitated networks and forums.

I have volunteered on a community centre committee and have organised fundraising events to support the centre. I am now the Vice Chairperson for Tibshelf Community School – a very different type of volunteer role.

When I am not working I love to walk my dog on the trails close to my home and have teenage boys who occasionally converse with me – usually when they need food or a lift somewhere.

I am delighted to be able to offer my support to SDCVS at at time when I find myself not working for the first time since my 13 year old was born. I hope to reach you by telephone in the next two weeks and may follow this up with an email if unable to speak to you. I would love to know what your group is doing to support people and how SDCVS can support you in this incredibly challenging time.

I am looking forward to getting to know all of you and hope to help by mapping out the fabulous work that you are doing in response to Covid 19 to keep communities safe both mentally and physically.

Jodie
