Launch Of The Stronger South Derbyshire Regular Giving Fund

Helping local people in crisis during Covid 19 and beyond

South Derbyshire CVS has been supporting our local community for almost 25 years, with the current crisis highlighting that we are needed now more than ever.

Yesterday we launched the Stronger South Derbyshire Regular Giving Fund and we’re asking all our friends, partners and local communities to help either directly by signing up to become a member and/or by helping to get the message out. A regular monthly donation together with Gift Aid where appropriate, means we can ensure that local people in crisis across South Derbyshire really do get the help they need, when they need it.

You might be surprised to know that not all of our services receive ongoing grant funding sufficient to cover the cost of running them – for example, our Food Bank. Last year (2019) we gave out well over 1,000 food parcels and it is likely to be much higher this year due to the economic impact of COVID-19.

To help us plan ahead and make sure we are always there for local people in need, we are appealing for people to become Stronger South Derbyshire Regular Giving Fund members, which simply entails signing up to make a regular monthly donation.

Our initial aim is to reach 500 members, helping to give us the means to support even more people in the months and years to come. As well as the satisfaction of knowing you are supporting vital community services, members will receive a special impact bulletin at least twice a year, detailing the work we’ve been able to carry out with your ongoing support.

Monthly donations of any amount are welcome – as an example, £5 will provide an emergency food parcel for a child for 1 day, £20 will feed a family for 3 days and £50 will feed a family for a week.

Signing up can be done in just two steps:

  1. Setting up a regular donation via standing order or through PayPal
  2. Confirming membership by filling out a short form.

Full details of how to do this are available on the Donate page of our website

We understand that not everyone will be able to help us with a regular donation. If you would like to help us in another way, you could spread the word by sharing this email with your contacts, or share our posts about this appeal on social media. You can find us on Facebook and Twitter.

Thank you for your support!
